Cruise Control - Cutting in and out

Having addressed the serious problems with the 230E I now come to the irritations. When setting the cruise contol on the 230E 123 223, it will move up to the required speed and settle down for a while, then the car will suddenly start to slow down, then speed up, it wont go over the set speed but will not sit constant. I know I have a vacuume problem with the off side rear door lock leaking, are the two linked or is the cruise control a seperate system? Thanks
