Is it possible to fit cruise control on a manual W202? If so, is it straight foward and what do I do?

I commute along a section of the M1 that is likely to have average speed cameras for the forseable future and I tend to suffer from potentially licence-losing lead-wellie syndrome, you help would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

Richard

Was cruise control an option on the manual when the car was new? (bump)

I think it was an option

as we have it on our 88 w124. I also have a manual w202 w/o cruise, and bought an original vdo aftermarket kit, and and original MB control stalk to do a retro fit myself. 2 years later, and it's all still in the box.
To make it work on a manual, there is a reed switch in the kit which senses the clutch pedal going down which switches off the c/c. You also take a feed from the brake light switch which does the same. It looks straight forward enough, just some wiring to feed through from the engine bay to under the dash, and the positioning of the servo and cable and control stalk the only bits that need you get wiggy and drill and cut.
C/c worked fine on the mem's manual skoda, you just have to remember as a driver that it's a one gear only thing and you have to resume after each gear change set.
If you are interested, pm me and I'll let you have it for what it cost me, as it looks like I'll never get around to doing it until after my kids leave home.

Hi Myros,

I'd love to talk to you about the Cruise control, but it seems that I am not allowed to PM ... Please contact me, if you can,

cheers,

Richard
