Hey guys,

So I am back in the R230, and we all know what that means!

First up.. cruise control is acting strange. At first I thought it wasn't working at all, but after fiddling around with it earlier this morning, I noticed that the cruise control does actually work.

It works in the sense that when I push the stalk up, the car will accelerate to the "set speed" and maintain that speed. I tested it then by tapping the brakes to disengage and noticed the speed drop off relatively quickly - so this proves that CC is actually working.

What is weird is that there is no visual indication of CC working in the instrument cluster. i.e. It doesn't show the CC speed when pushing the stalk up/down.

Has anybody noticed this? It seems strange.

P.S. If relevant, there is a fault showing on the cluster, the 3rd brake light doesn't work at the moment.

Thanks

Is it cruise or Distronic?

Just plain old cruise control.

Also worth noting that I have C2253 error marked "ABS Control" :/

What happens if you look at wheel sensor speeds in live data.

Do you know where I would see that? I tried looking for sensor data earlier but there wasn't much that I could see.. There was wheel sensor data in the SBC section that said I was doing 1.7km/h while stationary on each wheel (i.e. all 4 values the same) :/

Sounds like you were looking at it.
Get to 30mph and see what the sensors all say.

Ah, I was going to do that, but when you are in the SBC menu in iCarSoft it triggers the funny red warnings on the dash, saying braking system not working so I didn't do that.

Probably a quick lash on STAR should solve it. I am also curious to see the current actuation count on the SBC unit also, so I can build that in the timeline of repairs (budget).

Flashing A/C light 3 times also, so probably need to re-gas that too.. I can book this into AMF also.. :)

Dont you just look at the speedo to see what speed you're doing with cruise control.

Good point - forgot you have SBC. Not sure how else to do it. I'll take a look tomorrow if I get time.

That would be cool, thanks. No rush though. Cheers.

Turns out both you guys are correct!

I've just RTFM and there is no indication that the LCD in the instrument cluster displays any information for Cruise Control. In the instructional section for Distronic it does display diagrams of how things are displayed when using Distronic.

Well at least it works anyway.. although it's a bit odd you can't see the set speed, so you just need to dial it in and see where it settles. Better than nothing I guess.

Just trying to remember if the 210 shows the speed set. I know neither 202 I used to have did.

I remember in the 211 (2003) and in the 212 (2011) there is a little dot that appears at the set speed, the 169 (2005) however doesn’t

The same as the 211 (2005), a dotted line around the circumference of the speedo, extending to the speed set.

Its like that on my 212 but certainly not the 230.

I wasn't out in today to check the back lit needles etc but am doubtful as know mention in the user guide. But then again, it could be an Easter egg :)
