cruise control

I have had new discs fitted to my 1998 c180 the cruise controle gets very little use but I now find that at 70 it stays set only for a moment or so, if you try t set it at 80 it will not set at all.I have tried a local non fran/garage his computer showed the only problem possibly was the front nearside ABS sensor the garage that does the servicing say that it looks ok.I'v looked using the search but can't find anyone who has had the same problem any clues please!

Are the tyres the same size all round? Even new on one axle vs badly worn tyres on another axle can make the Cruise play up.
Brake light switch is another possible but it should trigger a light.

funny that was the first thing the guy in the garage asked .the rear tyres have just been replaced & the original rears were put on the front .the sizes were checked and they are all the same the ware is even as they have been kept in pairs.
