I have a 1990 230ce with cruise that doesn't work, and i also have a 1983 280se with cruise that does work. basically as the 230ce is the one i use all the time i owuld like to fix the cruise in that. Can someone point me in the direction of which componants i should try removing and plugging in etc, or is it not that simple? thanks

Before you start unplugging and replacing parts check that you have a live feed to the C/C unit. I had a similar problem and after changing several parts we then found out that awire had corroded in one of the multiplugs under the bonnet result --No Feed to the C/C

I agree, before you start unplugging and swapping parts around I would check to make sure that the parts are interchangeable.

Correct me if I am wrong but the 230 ce is a W124 and the 280 se is a W126 for starters.

Their is quite a difference in age and even though the Cruise Control Amplifiers may look the same their might be a change in the pin configuration and your end result may be that you end up with two vehicle that no longer have Cruise.

Ok, i did wonder if they were different, but kinda hoped the systems would be the same. I'll have a check around as suggested above anyway. thanks, rob

I have just had a similar problem with my W124 1994 E320. The cruise control gave up the ghost. Also, the ABS light stayed on and it was this problem that would not allow the cruise to function.

Amswer: the fuse in the OVP was u/s. After changing, both systems worked perfectly.

C/C unit?

Hi, Same fault on my 1992 300 sl 24.

When you say check live to C/C unit, do you mean the cruise control ECU under the bonnet ? If so do you know which pin on the ecu plug is the live ?
