Ok i've bought one of these chargers to leave on the battery when the car is not in use ( ie slight rain ) . It comes with crocodile clips for the battery ,however it also comes with eyelets to permanently connect to the battery so it makes it easier . Question is ... In order to do this i have to disconnect the battery . What issues might i face by doing this ?

Thanks

To connect the eyelets you only have to take off the nut , not the whole terminal

I cut a slot in both connections....this allowed me to slacken the nuts on the battery terminals...one at a time...push the connectors over the bolt and fasten the nuts...Hey Presto...Simples
I like that buddy , very clever

Most battery terminals have large clamps and smaller 10mm bolts. Just use the 10mm bolts.

Having the plug for the C-Tek permanently wired to the battery makes it a doddle to plug the charger in every time you put the car away.

You need only to do this if you've a big ass battery with small terminal space .

I've a few cars and the later I fitted the eyelets & connector as the bonnet might foul otherwise .

Also it's not a C-Neck , a fraction of the price but dose exactly the same .

When I took the battery off the CL500 to charge as I disconected the battery the MB car alarm went off, went on and on for 10 min then stoped, after 4 days charging at home I replaced the battery in the car the MB alarm went off again for 10 min, that is the only problem i had.

The car alarm views the battery being disconnected as an attempt to steal/tamper with the car, hence the alarm sounding. The alarm has it's own built-in battery just for this reason. If you wire the C-Tek convenience socket on to the terminals you can charge with the C-Tek without disconnecting the battery - plug-in and switch on. Simples. We keep the 'toy' cars topped up this way. The 996 Porsche flattens it's battery in about two weeks otherwise, and then the alarm goes berserk!

Is there not a set routine when disconnecting main the battery? eg on my Vauxhall you had about 15 secs from turning the ignition off to removing a lead from the battery otherwise the alarm went off.

I don't think that this has a power supply mode though, where the Ctek does; invaluable for inflating the air mattress when the kids come round!!
