Took delivery of a second hand A class on Sunday (25/06/2006) from an MB dealership, on arriving home I checked the service indicator, to my horror I discovered it was due a B service in 3700 miles. I contacted the selling dealer straight away to be told that they only serviced cars that were due to be serviced in less than 3000 miles, I looked at MB approved used car website and this confirmed it.
This policy was not pointed out to me prior to delivery and I somewhat stupidly assumed that any approved car would be fully serviced by the dealership prior to delivery.
I am now in disscusion whith MB customer care, will post the outcome when there is one!

Caveat Emptor I'm afraid. Did you discuss servicing with the dealer prior to handing over the folding? If so you may be able to do a deal with them.

No just assumed it would be done, any other used car I have had in the past has been delivered fully serviced, thought this would be the case with an approved MB. Silly me!

Absolutely - never assume anything. I asked about mine when negotiating and the salesman rang me back to say it was already due so would be done as a matter of course. They have to draw the line somewhere and 3k is a fair amount (and that's speaking as someone to whom 3,000 miles is less than 6 weeks). If you wanted more, you should have raised this when negotiating.

I had similar with tyres. I believe the rule is 3mm. Rears were 2.5mm so again were automatically replaced, but fronts were 4mm and whilst I tried, they wouldn't do them. Fair enough really.

You could explain your disappointment to the sales manager and suggest he keeps you happy with a discount on the next service.
