Hi All,

The other day i pulled up to a junction and the engine cut out. I restarted in N and it idled fine, moved it to D and it cut out again.

Managed to eventually get it to go by jumping on the accelerator as soon as I put it in D - I jumped forward, but managed to get home. Next few days it was fine - then today - same thing happened again - idles about 1100 in N or P (Normally sits around 700 when idling in D), as soon as I put it in D or R the engine just stalls.

Any suggestions as to what could be causing this?

It's a '95 C200 with about 99,000 miles on it.

Thanks for any help! Cheers

Hi and welcome, To me it sounds like the throttle switch in the air flow housing is not switching to the idle circuit.

Little update to this - I've discovered the problem only occurs when I've got less than 1/4 of a tank of petrol!

Have spoken to a friendly mechanic and although very confused at first he seems to think it's a ?swirler? in the tank causing the problem?

I'm keeping it at about 1/2 a tank or above at the moment and it's running fine.
