gazbiker,

Hold on a minute, just before you go pulling you car apart!
The PSE pump does cycle on now and again, this is normal operation. It runs each time you lock / unlock the car, each time you open / close the boot and will cycle when you have the "massage" seats on (if you have them) or adjust the seat lumbar support.
The pump should be fairly quiet and only run for a couple of seconds, is that the case with your car?

Hi David

Yes, everytime the door is opened, boot etc the PSE is running but then after say 3-4 seconds it should stop but it runs for at least a minute before it stops. and the as soon as another part of the car that is running off the PSE equipment off it goes again for another 2 mins? Seems like the poor thing never get's a rest! so I'm thinking there is a leak somewhere but thus far I cannot hear any leaks, there are no warning signs on the dash and everything seems to work as it should including the soft close on the bootlid. So I'm not sure what is normal for the PSE unit since I have only owned the car for a couple of months. Cheers Gaz

Hey Guys

had the SL350 into Mercedes Northampton and they confirmed it had a split pipe under the passenger side which was causing the PSE pump to keep cycling. Pipe replaced all OK now. So on to another subject, the center console lid locking mechanism, when you open it all ok but then the lock does not go back to neutral so the lid will not close down. If you fiddle underneath and hold it over with a pen or something you can get it to close. Spoke to Merc about it and they said you cannot buy the lock separately you have to buy the whole console which is £550!....WTF! is there a easy fix with this one? I presume there is a spring of some sort that has broken?

Probably an idea to pull it apart and have look. The fault may be obvious and easily fixed. The latch is not separate. Other than that try eBay.

The console lock is controlled by the PSE pump on the IVZ line. Given youve just had work done on the PSE system it would be a bit of a coincidence for the lock to fail. If youre sure it was working previously, Id be having a look at the PSE pipes and asking MB what they did and whether they may have disturbed the IVZ pipework???

The IZV circuit also controls door pocket locks. If they work correctly there's a good chance the IZV circuit is ok.
