DAB+ Capability

Talkradio is moving from DAB to DAB+.
I looked online and was disappointed to find that my 2014 E350 should not be capable of receiving DAB+.

However the car finds and receives the new Talkradio+ channel on DAB+.

About 3 years ago I had the DAB aerial booster replaced under warranty due to poor reception so has this given me access to DAB+ or has my car has always had the capability to receive DAB+?

its a tuner thing, similar issue to MPEG2 compression vs MP4, similar quality twice the data on the earlier codec - that ability to cope is wrapped up in the chipset of the tuner

they are probably still broadcasting both … but for how long?

the sick thing is some tuners could cope with a firmware update in 2007...

which would suggest Mercedes are just budget rubbish, using cheap old parts without any consideration toward customer satisfaction or environmental sustainability

If that is true then how am I receiving in my 2014 car?

I have a 2016 E350 with NTG5.2 and don’t believe I can receive DAB+

unless I’m doing something wrong of course.

Hopefully there is some upgrade I can do other than replace command of course.

In my SL I have a Nextbase adapter that receives DAB and DAB+, it only cost £32.

I suspect an upgrade of some sort was done when you had the warranty work done.

That is what I suspect too. I know they did a software update and said they fitted a new dab aerial booster but the work could have given me DAB+as an additional benefit.
