Damm roof wont work

Hi I have a SLK 230 and the roof would not go back up, I called the AA who manually put the roof up. My local and very good garage has informed me that it will now need to go back to a MB garage for a reset? Is this true if so any ideas on costs or where else I can get this done? I live in the sticks in Wiltshire and MB dealers are as rare as rocking horse doda.

Hi, similar problem with my roof a while ago, it started to go back and stopped, managed to get it back a while later, fault was a dud cell in battery, replaced battery and all ok may be worth checking it out. Would not have thought it needs coding unless the ccm has been removed.

hi, roof problems sometimes occur in the heat, due to a micro sensor which has a rubber seal which swells up and makes the car think that the winsdows are not down.....
i think that the roof resets when you take the key out aswell, hav you tried the roof since? also try the fuses aswell.... worth a shot, im sure my good man television will give you some sound advice anyway
