damn that guage

afternoon folks ,dropped in to ask if any one can advise . 1990 190e 102 lump oil guage acting up .i thought i had sorted this problem but its come back to haunt me .details as follows . before oil guage fluctuated so flushed out and run 500 miles on cheap petrol /diesel oil , this sorted the fluctuation and stopped my tappets from tapping on start up :-D now many miles later guage trouble again . 3from cold runs at 3 when hot idles at 2 rises to3 on pull off but recently 3 from cold and as the temp gets to 80 oil guage drops to 2 and idles at 2 and on occasions runs at 2. stop turn off and restart run at 3 and then drops back to 2 and now seems to run at 2 more often . the inside of the lump IS SPOTLESS THE OIL CLEAN im getting concerned of this drop in pressure on occasions to 2 anyone had this or any ideas many thanks sj

Could it just be that the oil pressure is 2 bar? How many miles has the engine done?

Had a similar problem with an old Golf GTi that had a really annoying low oil pressure buzzer, used more viscous oil and oil pressure increased and buzzer stopped. Obviously didn't solve the problem of the top end of the engine being rubber ducked though.

merc 190 3 bar is min when driving idle at 1 bar is ok? but 2 is better. the guage should run at three when pulling away and driving, but a constant 2 is permissible. milage is 160k service history to 116k then owned by reputable ?mechie {is there such a person} then regular sevice by me. today she's running fine at3 bar idles at 2---- what the ****. still i will fit an oil switch and the valve inside oil filter housing . UNLESS anyone could possibly put there finger on the fault CHEERS SJ
