Hi

I have A 2010 E class cabrio and to me the soft top isn't as black as it used to be seems to have faded a bit. I would like to know if anyone can recommend a product that is good for reviving soft tops?

Would a good clean do it? What products? I've used autoglym soft too cleaner and was but didn't make the top any darker.

I've seen several products but I don't want to ruin the top so anyone recomend some tried and tested ones around?

The Renovo product with the dye in is pretty good. I have used the blue and the black previously with excellent results.

Thanks

I had heard of renovo but have heard of people getting streaky or patchy results. I'm kinda worries to do it myself for this reason.

A full Renovo treatment involves 3 products of theirs - shampoo, colourant and sealant. First wash the hood with their shampoo using something like a nail brush to get it clean, rinse with loads and loads of water and allow to dry thoroughly.

Mask the car carefully using paper and 3M blue masking tape. The colourant is thinner than water and will find its way into any available space - it's easy to wipe off while still wet, but a PITA when it's dry (ask me how I know this!!) Remember places like the drainage channel between the rear of the hood and the front of the boot lid.

Once you have used the colourant, DO NOT fold the hood for at least 24 hours (as per the instructions) or you will get lighter coloured fold lines in the hood (again, as me how I know!!).

After this, applying the waterproofer is quite easy, just follow the instructions on the bottle.

I did my 968 cab just after I bought it 6 years ago, it has faded but still looks quite reasonable - although I think it's about time to re-do it. The only re-proofing I've done was to use up a 1/2 can of Fabsil I had left over, we were about to go on a long European trip with a chance of driving in rain, something I very seldom normally do.
