Do the lamps in the instruments work, like speedo etc.

All the items you mention that aren't being illuminated are fed from the dimmable supply which originates at the instrument cluster and is a sub circuit fed from the main lighting feed. There is a four pin connector at the back of the cluster providing dimmable supply to various places which could be loose/faulty , but if this is the case you will also get no oil pressure indication. Failing this the variable potentiometer(illumination control) could be u/s in the cluster itself.

Thanks for your posting,I was not sure if all the lamps were dimmable.

the pot does go open circuit and there is a special fuse in the cluster.

hi, the only lights that work are at those along the bottom of the cluster panel, ie main beam, brake and also the reserve petrol light, all the dials work, except the clock and the trip odemetre dosent record any milage, but it did that before the lights went, i will try the fuse if I can find it and let you know thanks

have you tried adjusting the dimmer switch in your instrument panel (one adjust the clock, the other adjusts the lighting up/down of the instrument panel, when dimmed... the panel will look unlit and so will the corresponding items such as those you mention

twiddle your knobs on the dashboard instrument cluster and see do you notice any changes

cheers

I understood that there is a fuse somewhere around, either in line or in the cluster for the back lights. The adjusting pot (dimmer) does go open circuit, sometimes turning the pot both ways will give a temp repair.

With a voltmeter you could see exactly where the 12v stops.
