Dash Gear Display

Does the W208 show or supposed to show what gear your in on the dash? If so where? I only ask as I have nothing and not sure if its supposed to show or not. Sorry if its a stupid question :)

2002 SL500, 216 CL500, all fully loaded
Cannot be sure, but on mine I have a D in the display,,that will stay a D unless I use the tiptronic and then it will show the gear that i am in instead

Cheers, just seen some posts of interiors with the gear displaying then that got me thinking!! Thanks again guys I need to sort out beers for a few people on this forum I think ;)

The display will show P,N,R,D unless you have used triptronic to limit the shift up or down then it will show that limit i.e. 1,2,3,4

If the car has flappy paddles and M mode then when in M mode it will display the actual gear selected.

Or at least on a 203 or 211. I think the 208 and 209 are the same, or have I got it wrong?
