Hopefully this should be easily identified, have a 320 clk 200 , when i switch my lights on the dashboard dims to the point where it is difficult to read. Dont think its a fuse, anyone had similar ? it may be under use of the car as i only use it at weekends, obly replaced battery 2500miles ago ? Hints and thoughts appreciated.

I have exactly the same fault. As far as i know there is no dimmer for the dash lighting

Fault started after i had the number plate light replaced. Perhaps this is connected with the fault?

Hope the op and I get the answer :)

They all have dimmers, either turn the round plunger button or the +/- buttons on the cluster its self.

On the left hand edge of your cluster there is a single black knob, used to zero the trip meter amongst other things. Lesser known but it also turns and acts as a dashboard dimmer. Clockwise should turn it up.

Thanks guys! On my 2002 CLK 320 the dimmer control is right next to the reset button used to zero the trip meter. There is an up arrow and a down arrow.

Ever since I bought this car I've been a bit annoyed about the dim display - and now its fixed :)

As a side note I got my spark plugs changed earlier this week. It transpires I've had a minor misfire ever since I bought the car almost a year ago. I thought this was normal (because that is the way it has always driven). A mechanic suggested I changed the plugs.

I was dubious right up to the point I drove the car. What a difference... so much more responsive :)

MPG for motorway travel has risen from 27mpg to 31mpg

If your service history shows no evidence of a plug change for more than 40,000 miles I suggest you get this done :)
