The only dashboard lights on my 260e that work are those behind the rear window heater switch, hazard warning light switch and rear interior light switch ( all are on the same part of the dashboard). The light within the gear selector also works.

No lights around speedo/tacho or around heater dials.

Should I be looking at at bulb replacement in each part of the dashboard or is it more likely that there is a break in power to the affected parts.

Any ideas before I start pulling out parts of the dashboard and learning about multi-meters!

Cheers

No real problems on these clusters, just pull it out and replace all of the lamps for new ones

Before you pull the instrument panel out, wiggle the dash dimmer dial (the trip reset button) as sometimes the switch gets dirty ans blows out all of the lights.

Thanks rpe2 I will try that first.

For anyone else trying to take out instrument clusters I have found the following step by step procedure:

http://www.mercedesshop.com/Wikka/W124InstCluster

Havn't tried it yet but it seems pretty clear and even shows how to make the tool req'd.
