Dated rear lights on R230..

Often when I look at my R230 it feels like the only thing that has dated on it is the rear lights..

I wonder has anybody fitted the facelift lights to one.. I think they would change the appearance of the rear end nicely. Even possibly getting some AMG ones, but I wouldn't want to bastardise the car totally.

Anybody?

EDIT: ... Or would that be regarded as tempting fate.. spending money on things that don't need fixing on a 230.

Yes........! Very much like that! Very nice! They are facelift, non AMG, yes?

No idea where they came from - they were fitted by Malcolm (aka Television).

Just checked the rear lenses - no part number either.
Brake lights are LED if that helps....

I looked at doing this mod on my SL, apart from the rarity of finding replacement lights the cost made it unviable for me.

They've come down a quite a lot to when I was looking, could be viable now.

Yea I remember peeking at them on eBay before.. I would want OEM ones I think and they are not cheap.

If nothing else broke it would be money well spent but I wouldn't like to buy them and then have to sort out some ABC or SBC issues..

Not sure if coding would be required since theres a change to LED which could upset bulb failure detection.

Yes I think it is only one. The other light will have a different part number.

Those updated rear lights do look nice, something for me to add to my mods list. Ive been thinking lately of modding my SL to bring it up to date.

Grille, rear lights, AMG body kit, chrome bonnet and wing louvres, rear spoiler, SL65 wheels, gloss black interior trim...

I would love to bag a set of nice split rims.. Wouldn't mind a look at the grille too.
