Does anyone know how much of a job removing my ticking cat will be? I am fairly sure thats what the rattling noise is.
The ticking increases as you speed up, but you can't hear it if you rev the car while it is standing still.

My 320 is a straight 6 cylinder, so i would guess that it is a single cat & downpipe. The twin downpipe may be for the V6 model.

Is the cat difficult to acess as it looks like it is right up in the engine compartment?

your cats that rattle on the single sytem are at the bottom by number 230, I have never known the upper cats to rattle. This can be done on a lift all in situ.

If that is true malcolm, then i need not worry about the insides breaking off & damaging my turbo!
This has been my worry of late, as a few people have told me that I am running the risk of the Turbo going pop! Kerrrrrching!!

Ta,

Bruce.

Though I have only been active here for 14 months and have never heard of a top cat failing yet on any car. A cat is as soft as butter, you can push you finger through it.
