All,
I've had a couple of occasions where I put the key (electronic) in the ignition and nothing happened. Took it out and replaced it 3-4 times before I got the whirrs and clicks that usually occur. Last occurence was on Sunday and its been fine again since. I have noticed that the remote is getting a tad tempramental so I intend to change the battery which has probably been in for over 5 years - any idea if a weak key battery could cause the ignition system to reject it?

No, the battery is only for the remote locking, no battery required for the ignition operation.

Thanks Joe
Any other ideas why it might have been reluctant to take the key?
It's only the second time it's happened but if its sign of things to come, I'd like to be prepared.

Hi joe

If the battery is only for remote locking, what happens when the key is inserted in the ignition? Is there an interchange of signals between key and lock? What's the purpose of the IR windows in both key and lock?

REGARDS Phil
