Dealer Discounts?

Hi All

First time post to the forum :D

The reason for my post is that my wife has decided to go for a new C 220 CDI Saloon, Sport, after visiting Mercedes World the other day (excellent day out by the way!)

My question to the group is “what is the average going rate for dealer discounts” at the moment in the UK South East area? I gave up with Audi as they seem to think that the recession is just a figment of our imagination and state that they don’t need to discount their cars as people will pay a premium for the ‘Audi experience’ – whatever that is…?

Many thanks in advance for anyone’s recent experience.

The Audi experiance is over priced cars that are remarkably unreliable for tadays cars and service/sales centres staffed by know it all self absorbed fools. I had the pleasure of Audi for a few years. Stick with Merc. Oh and welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the replies.

I've a got a broker contact starting to look around next week for the best deal.

Will let you know if a new C220 lands on the driveway!

Don`t forget to check out what is available from dealers in the way of pre-reg delivery mileage cars. Our 180 Kompressor Avantguarde sport came thus at K4 off list before the market went teetz up.

Absolutely Splatt - pre-registered cars seem to enjoy heroic discounting and can be cheaper with zero miles than a pre-used car of similar age (build date) and spec and several thousand miles on it. Go figure .........:confused::confused:

I bet they don't say that when you're trading one in. It'll be "well, nobody's buying any cars anymore"

I think it is a matter of timing, you need to walk into the showroom at the precise time they are desperate to do sales in order to raise the discounts they will get on their next quarters distribution from MB. Say a week before Xmas to take delivery before Jan. similarly before the end of March,June Sept.

just after the new reg came out my local MB dealer (w-ton) had loads of new cars in stock with massive discounts plastered all over the screens, there was some fantastic savings to be had.

If you don't ask you'll never know.

I'd spec one up then spend a morning ringing round asking for quotes. Then play one or two off against each other. There are some really good offers from MB at the moment to shift new cars so its a great time to buy. I'd normally say buy ex demo/used as buying new is crazy but in the current market, new is looking like a better bet.

Dreaming of a CL55k - one day maybe....
I would NEVER buy a new car again.

Far better to buy one 2 years old that has all the teething problems sorted out.

Now I realise the new C Class hasn't been out that long - but even so, buying an ex-demo or pre-reg you will not only be able to buy a better spec but the overall cost will be much lower as the initial depreciation hit is taken away.
