Just bought ML55 and noticed there are two badge problems on the rear.

1. The previous owner fitted Brabus alloys (as well as fitted them with what can be best described as tractor tyres!!). He then put what looks like like a copy Brabus badge on the back tailgate which I'd like to remove.
2. The ML 55 badge looks to me like a copy too - both 5's are bubbling and need replacing - the AMG badge looks fine.

It's quite bizarre as the rest rest of the vehicle is in immaculate condition.

My question to the forum is

How can I effectively remove the Brabus badge and the ML 55 badge without marking the paintwork? Also as the 55 is bubbling does this indicate the badge is a cheap copy eg. are original badges chromed or polished stainless steel?

Thanks

Just warm them up with a hair drier carefully keeping the gun moving and they will pull off, some use tooth floss

Hi cleveley I used some dental floss to remove the badges from the back of my W210, All I had to do after that was clean off the "sticky stuff" and polish the areas. Job Done!

What they said really,

Very surprised Malcolm didn't mention lighter fluid to clean the dross off (petrol, though more refined)

This works great, though leaves it a bit dull. Quick polish after and you're sorted.

Badges are for wimps :D

You can buy label remover from stationers it does a better job than lighter fuel/petrol, and its kinder to hands.
