hi is there anyone out there or can anyone recommend somebody with star diagnostics who is mobile .my car is in my garage stuck in neutral.it drives for about a minute then stops in neutral.new conductor plate fitted ,wheel sensors all round,no codes or dash lights present. im in staffs. thanks its driving me mad. mick

yes the first time it happened i slowed down at a roundabout and it made a whining noise .then when i got to some traffic lights i had to stop,when the lights changed to green it wouldnt go . had to be towed home ,changed conductor plate speed sensors etc.took it out and after about 5 mins the same thing happened again .replaced trans fluid like for like,so you think it could be fluid level

Possibly that but more thinking blocked filter which gives a whine, check for glycol too as this will make the clutch plates fall apart blocking the filter.

ive fitted a new filter .check for glycol?.the trans fluid had no swarf in it just a dark sludge around the sump magnet.i will double check the fluid level.the dip stick ive got doesnt seem to bottom out ,it seems to go forever giving a false reading,is there a measure in actual mm from the bottom of the gearbox to the top of the dipstick pipe.? my dipstick is an ebay purchase not an mb one .

If your plates are delaminating, it will block a filter in a matter of miles. Glycol/water contamination from gearbox/rad oil cooler
