Hi All
I expect its already been asked many times but my W221 which I've owned since new needs the wheels refurbishing.
Do I get them diamond cut as they were originally or have them painted. Big difference in price but thats not the point. They have to look right.
Anybody else gone through this?
Many thanks
Dave

As you are probably aware, diamond cutting will only be a temporary fix. At some point, a stone chip or similar will mean moisture gets under the lacquer and you'll see a milky patch. Also, I understand that you can only have an alloy diamond cut one time as you are reducing the amount of metal with the procedure.
I would have the wheels refurbished and powder coated. Lots of nice finishes available too.

As above. Many good places out there doing alloys now and they will be good as new when done.

If you have them skimmed, then you wilk kurb them again at some point, then you will need brand new alloys.

So refurb all the way.

Powder coat-cheaper, quicker, easier with many suppliers.

Diamond cut - fewer specialists, cost approx twice the price and need more care when washing. Generally will be able to recut twice.

Many may not agree but diamond cut look many times better then even great powder coated. The way the sunlight catches a well machined and finished alloy is just lovely.
