Nah, 80 in a 30 is probably a banable but the wheelie seems a bit naughty. But really, its a minor offense given what else goes on out there. Driving is the most regulated, spied on activity out there, why, because it extracts money.

Is it only a wheelie when undertaken on a Motorcycle. ? Only ask because if riding on one wheel is considered dangerous, there is little hope for those of us with unicycles.

Another storey of Police harassment and the unwarrented use of traffic cameras in this country ?

This is quite unfair. The faster you go, the less peripheral vision you have.

It is totally unreasonable for the police to expect a motorcyclist travelling at 80 mph to be able to read a 30 mph sign placed so far outside his field of vision. I feel an appeal coming on ............

80 in a 30 would get most of us banned, car or bike, and to be honest - fair enough. It's normally 50% above the limit so 100 in a 70, technically 46 in a 30 is a bannable offence, let alone 80.
Add to that the fact that he was well over the limit several times in the same day (so it wasn't a moment of madness) and then pile on the wheelie on a busy road (hardly the actions of a safe rider) and yes, throw the key away - I'd have banned him for much longer. A motorcycle flying through the air at 80 into a bus queue will do just as much damage, if not more, than a car and lets be honest, you can lose control of a bike a lot more easily.

Ok some limits are silly and the enforcement blatantly more about revenue than road safety but in this case he deserved everything he got. The man is a lunatic and we're all a lot safer without him. Plus, he now has a decent chance of seeing the next two christmasses - something he didn't have a hope of before.
