I would be interested in the forums thoughts abs experiences on the use of fuel additives for diesel systems such as STP and the electromagnetic devices advertised. Do they do what they say on the packaging!!
Forget magnets and the like, they will do nothing.
Use an additive like redex or STP as they contain injector cleaning agents and lubrication enhancers, which are good for the fuel pump and injectors.
I use a product called power Plus made by Millers Oils. They were the first company to produce diesel additives and still have a good reputation.
I agree with dieselman on the Millers Diesel Additive. I have been using it for the best part of ten years, along with their engine oils. Have never looked back, never had injector or pump problems, plus less likely to smoke, combined with smoother running. After a while, you don't notice these benefits as you take them for granted, but by using the additive & the oil, you know you have peace of mind!
Have never had an NCT(MOT to you guys) emissions test fail yet, keeping in mind one car is an 1990 & the other is an 86,and all tests were well within the limits... here in Ireland, you cannot buy any Millers products off the shelf, it all has to be imported, I buy from a dealer in bulk, 25 Litre cans to be exact, as I run two diesel cars, one doing circa 20k a year(wifey), mine doing circa 40k.
Check out Millers web site at www.millersoils.co.uk
select the automotive tab & check out the product range, you should be looking for the fuel treatments & select Diesel Power Plus, this will give you the details.
and no, I'm not in anyway connected to the company.
Hope that's some help
