Hey guys just wanted to know if anybody knew which models have to have their diesel injectors recoded when they are replaced.
The 2001 w210 320 cdi i have has had all its injectors changed and has lost some of its mpg .
People i have spoken to have said that you dont have to recode injectors on a w210 its only the w211's and newer . Just wondered what was right really . Hope somebody can shed some light on this . I was told that if you change 2 or more injectors you have to have them recoded or paired with the ecu ?

i know but i can never get a straight answer for this car . so i still dont know whether i have to get it coded or not . some say you only have to tell the ecu the code for injector no 1 off the top of the injector and the ecu works out the rest but i dont know if it applies to my car or not ?

I'm sure S-A-M will fill in the details but I think your car does not need the injector classification coding.

I think for the E-class the 210 introduced injector classification coding but only on 4 and 5 cyl CDI and then the 320 6 cyl coding came in with the V6 on the 211..

If the injectors are a coded type, the will be a number from 1-4 with a ring around it on top of the injector!!

The cdi Euro 2 270 engine is coded. All mine were set to 2 and I tried various combinations, some yielding more power (overfuelling) others marginal better mpg (difficult to tell) but better mpg settings resulted in noisier engine.

Looking at some of the refurber sites it looks like the 320 straight 6 has a number of different part numbers for the injectors - did you get given the right ones for your VIN?

Cant believe how hard fixing mercs can be sometimes . Its like they are mythical beasts and you have to find the unicorn horn to fix them or they explode at sun rise
