diesel missfire

i have a 97 c220d it runs fine loads of power , how ever it starts ok but runs rough fo a few seconds then fine hot or cold. when stood and reved there is a slight missfire and whiteish smoke, this is not noticeable when moving or accelerating ,it uses no oil or water and the temp is ok. any ideas? it has done 1117k

hi, why not check out my recent thread on my E300TD misfire? you might get some ideas to look at... dont know if ive helped??? my first thought (if glow plugs ok) would be fuel system: sucking in air sometimes?

thanks mate , ive been told it could be ingectors or water in the fuel . i am going down the cheap route first new fuel filter and injector cleaner . i only noticed this after fueling up at asda not texico as usual. may be clutching at straws . let you know how i get on

diesei misfire

looks like its sorted ,put injector cleaner in tank , thrashed it ,got new fuel filter . will put it on at weekend. no more missfire or smoke, must have been bad fuel ,nice cheap fix

im dead jealous! lucky you! im doing my injectors at the weekend. not so cheap fix!
