hi all,

due to continued poor fuel consumption - see previous posts, mercedes have changed the ecu and now the dpf. it still seems not to be running correctly:(. mercedes have said it should do a burn off in the first week and then at approx. 160kms. well it has now done two 65miles apart!
can anyone tell me whether they notice a burn off? my fuel consumption falls badly, car resonates as if rear window open and there is now a strong hot smell in the car. mercedes say burn off should last 3.5-5 mins but mine don't stop unless i switch off and restart. am getting really hacked off with this car. glad car still under warranty. i bought a diesel for economy and get 32mpg:roll:

I was informed by an MB sevice technician that the burn off should take place at around every 600 miles, but it would appear that this is happening at irregular intervals and there is a recall on C,E,& S class cars manufactured from 19 /01 /2006. Some cars will also revert to Limp Home mode. A modified differential pressure sensor for the particulate filter is fitted

Hi Citroennut,

I have a W204 C320CDi and wondered if it had a Diesel Particle Filter. I checked with Mercedes and my car does not have one. Was this a standard fitment on your Mercedes or an optional extra? I got the impression they were not fitted to Uk models, but could be wrong.

hi,
xtractorfan the problem is my car is on a 54 plate so won't fall into that category, but where is the pressue sensor fitted as it has had a sensor replaced on the back box.

oldcro, unfortunately my car does have a dpf, apparently very few uk cars did. this has been replaced along with the ecu, maf and various other items to no avail. have been told that 'these cars have been designed for long distance travel not short journeys with longer ones as well' poor design methinks.

Yea i was wondering if ur car was o6 or younger, ....as it has the particulate filter fitted.... and the later models with the dpf fitted are having the same symptons as you then it would be prudent to assume your car is suffering from a similar fault.. so certainly take it up with the dealer and ask them to explain...
My dealer tells me that my car has two cats I can only find one and the ruski site lists only one

My c220cdi has DPF. Since 3 weeks i have got light on the dashboard (check engine) but everything was ok.
I have done diagnosis and ...Dpf is not regenerating (code P2626).
2 day ago car lost power. What i mean-cold engine is ok, warm engine no more then 3000rpm.
Now is 67k on my clock and one specialist told me the DPF should be changed aroud 75k.
Does anybody know what i should to do?any ideas?
I want to buy nem DPF...but i'm not sure does it help?
Has anybody any helpfull staff (wis or epc pictures)?
I don't trus MB dealer-expensive meetings.

Can I get this straight? If the car has a DPF then it periodically speeds the engine up to burn off the carbon and stuff. This is entirely automatic and the car doesn't go faster or anything. Is that what happens?
cheers

My car, Jan 2006 E280CDi Estate, has a label on the top of the engine saying "229.31". This is the low ash oil which is specified for the DPF. However, when I asked my main dealer, they told me that one is not fitted. I asked them to confirm this and they assure me that it doesn't need this more expensive oil. I wish there was some way for me to find out for definite. Until then I am using Opie 229.31 oil, as supplied by Oilman.

I'm getting the p2626 code but my dpf is fine only at 28%. My car looses power and then won't go over 3000 revs. Catalyst temp was reading at 192 degrees and some reading on 6682 on something else. Friend suggested front lambda sensor does this sound about right ? Thanks in advance new Mercedes owner.
