I own a mercedes C 250D, its been running great so far. One morning it decided not to start, i detected an air leak into the fuel lines. After 2 days of diagnostics i was able to find a fuel leak at the joint between diesel pump and black plastic switch (not sure what this component is called).

Do i have to replace the whole pump or replacing the switch will solve the problem. Its the area marked in blue

thanx

hi
I cant see what u call the black switch.
Anyway, clean the area then check exactly what is leaking. Then take the cheapest option first.

fuel leak

Hi cisman

Yes the black box is an electric fuel shut off valve. If you take it off (2 torx bolts), you will see a short pipe going in to the main body of the pump. The O ring on this pipe leaks letting air into the system. Doing this will disturb all the other pipes you have to move, probably causing more leaks. Might be a good idea to replace all the pipes, (about 5) and O rings. Set of pipes from dealer is about £70. Standard fix for this thing. If its any consolation I had to do the same thing on my 2002 C270cdi, Merc havnt learned fron their mistakes !.

You can order the o-rings for the pipes separately, which would be much cheaper than new pipes. I don't know the part numbers though.
