I use a sealey pump. Same idea as a pela and it's brilliant. Don't ever use a sump plug any more even when fitted.

Pump for a couple of seconds, then go make a coffee. When it stops empty it out (two of my cars take 8 litres of oil and the pump is 6 but stops when full). Another couple of pumps on the handle, drink the coffee and it's done.

Think I know what my next purchase will be ;)

I use a cheap eBay electric pump, i think it was 16.00 around 5 years ago, lost count how many oil changes i have done over the years, it keeps our 3 litre z4 serviced as well as the wifes old c220, don't know what i,m going to do with our nearly 4 year old e350 as yet as the warranty is up in march . i normally service to what the mileage says e.g. a/b service.

Do you always do you your own services? Is your pump designed for car oil changes?

yes the pump is just for oil changes, i have had cars in the past which were still under manufacturers warranty and always let the dealer do the service incase of a claim but more or less do all my own servicing and repairs myself, although i have an indy booked in to do the transmission change on the e350 (its first) just for the paperwork.

Being undecided as to whether to go for a manual system or the electric pump option, after some deliberation I decided to opt for the following (not based on any tests, trials or reviews - just a gut feeling o_O).

I was somewhat disappointed when the sales assistant did not wheel out the 'depicted' boat, it was the expectation of getting a free power boat that had influenced my decision - oh well :(.

Isn't that the boat that you could win on Bullseye?

I’ve got a sealey 6ltr pump and it’s great. I did pick up an electric transfer pump from Lidl the other year..

They have them I believe in their new offers this week.

I mainly use the vacuum pump as don’t often have the spare container to transfer into until I’ve refilled the car

I actually quite enjoy it now rater than than have to get all filthy oil running down arm etc..and of course the fuss with new cars and all the undertrays (as long as car has oil filter on top of engine of course!!)

And then you can see what you could’ve won!

Now that’s safe, that’s in the bank...

Gotta love Jim Bowen. His pi55taking of the contestants is the best reason to watch the show.

Bought a silverline pump off amazon which is very cheap (16quid I think) and worked fine. If you're oil capacity is between 6L and 8L (like mine) it's a bit cheaper to buy and easier to store a 4L one - you have to do two lots whether you buy a 4L or 6L so why bother with a 6L?

When they created the new season in 2006 they should have brought back Jim, instead of that other chap,

Aye, Ive got a cheap oil pump off ebay. its not quick but I just set it going and go make a brew.

With the filter at the top of the engine as well faffing about underneath with oil and filth dropping on you is pointless.

Because my Defender when I had it was 5 litres :)

If it's only a few quid difference , buy the 6L Pela , after all you may change your car to a smaller oil quantity engine , and the Pela will outlast the car anyway

With regard to the Pela 6000 I just purchased, the contents sheet shows that there should be 2 different diameter dipstick holder pieces of tubing, mine only came with one tube about 3.5mm\4mm diameter.

I queried this with Machinemart and the response was that the box it came in must have contained a very old contents sheet as they have been advised by their stores people that all the Pela's had only 1 size of dipstick tubing included.

Can someone tell me the diameter of tubing on their Pela 6000. Or did anyone receive a Pela with 2 tubes.

Thanks.
John
