Hi all just a quick question. Recently bought a 2017 c250d which had the diesel software update recall.
My question is would a remap reverse this for better MPG? as it seems quite high MPG round town 25-30 MPG.

Thanks in advance.

No, we cannot reverse the exact changes that are made. We can our our usual for fuel economy vs the standard map so you may get somewhere in between. Depending on hardware revision, we may have a version of your ecu software from before the update but its not likely.

Apparently it can't be undone but a remap may help improve things.

That sounds pretty poor though.

Are there any other factors which would explain the poor MPG? its only done 30k miles, anyone else with the same engine and what MPG do they get.

Yes, a few, as you have just bought it, its difficult to say, but injector faults, maf faults etc could all cause poor efficiency.

Nothing obvious like dragging brakes etc?

No was bought from Mercedes dealer in July, still under warranty.

I’d run the car and monitor it a bit longer bearing in mind the ambient temperature has been very low this year and you are obviously running the car in the London area, diesels are no different to petrol engines in that they take longer to warm up in cold weather and burn more fuel in doing so. Owners have seen slightly higher consumption figures post the recall software update but I think 25-30mpg is about right for where you live and the current climatic conditions. A true test of mpg would be a 100 mile run using motorways and A roads to find out what the upper end mpg potential is on your car - my advice is don’t take any notice of the manufacturer’s mpg figures especially at this time of year

C250 CDI
They take longer than most cars in the family because the OM651 has a large coolant capacity of 10 L , maybe to handle the autobahn .

The 1.9 tdi gets up to temperature like a rocket with a capacity of 7 L .

I’m really impressed with the E350cdi engine the OM642 hot V gets to temperature quicker than any other car I’ve owned quite impressive really the only downside is that eventually the oil cooler seals get fried although the new Viton seals seem much better in that respect

Thanks for the reply, think your right.
Drive to work 7 miles this morning, town traffic.
Up to temperature in 20 minutes and 35mpg.

Sounds normal to me for cold winter temps?
I've had the software update recently and not noticed any difference in my MPG figures or adblue usage unlike many tales on here?

Dreaming of a CL55k - one day maybe....
20 mins seems a long time to get up to temperature to me - 5 min or so summer, 10-15 would sound more reasonable this time of year. Perhaps 20 if idling outside a house to warm up, but actually driving, that seems a long time.
