2004 ml 270 special edition and 2007 sprinter exlwb311 cdi
Hi there,..i'm new to this so be gentle,..I would like to know the best way to gain a little performance out of my ml270 as we pull a twin axle caravan and sometimes i can feel a flat spot when accelerating under a load. I've been reading about those plug in boxes but i am a little wairy that it will muck up the brains of the car. Whats the best kind to purchase and at what rough cost? Also my van is an 07 311 CDi Sprinter that dies on hills usually about Beatock summit!!!,is it OK to also add a plug in box to my van without damaging the brains??? Cheers Gordon.

performance chip

i fitted a plug in performance/chip box on my 03 311cdi about a year ago and it was the best £80 odd quid ive spent on it. I bought it off ebay and im sure it cost about £70 + £10 delivery. Ive just looked on ebay now for the sellers name but could find it but there are lots of different sellers. Mine came from germany and its a little bigger then a match box with cable & a plug on each end and although the instructions were in german the picture was clear enough to see wher it needed to be fitted. There are chips on there that cost £300+ but at the time i didnt have that amount of cash spare and didnt know wether it would work but im more then impressed. On a journy i do quite often there is a killer high where i would have to get a 80mph run-up only to be in 3rd gear doing 40mph half way up but with the chip the van will keep a steady 60mph with maybe a 70mph run-up so i would say the torque is greatly improved and as for speed it is alot faster. Ive glued a rubber door stop to the floor of my van to slow me down because i found myself racing every van going so now it goes the same speed as it used to with only half 3/4 of the fuel. Its a xlwb 03 311cdi and can do 45mpg+ with 500kg or so, so after woffling on i would say go for it,they get the thumbs up from me
