DIFF OIL CHANGE ON 190E-1993

i am plannning a diff oil change on my car as above which has covered 113k miles.

my question is what spec oil should i use?

(the local stealership was most unhelpful stating my car was too old!!!-one of the worst excuses i have ever heard),.hence my reliance on advice from fellow enthusiasts on this website.

what is the correct oil, mineral or semisynthetic?.

any other tips?

an early response would be appreciated.

I used normal EP GL5 gearbox oil for my 190E,

My only tips are:

make sure you can open the top up plug before draining the oil out

I would get the diff oil changed as ASAP as I changed mine at 80K
and the oil was like black sludge : (

thanks gentlemen-i bought some 80w/90 EP diff oil from the local gsf parts shop-it is a morrison brand-a litre for under 3 quid.

will ask my mechanic to do the change soon as it is well overdue.

You need a 14mm hex key for the level plug ( & drain plug too I think).
The plug can be very tight - it's a taper thread.

would u recomend i change my diff oil?

Ive done 30 000 km in my 190 and havent changed the diff oil. As far as i can tell by the service records its never been changed. are there any advantages in changing the oil? is it important?
