Hi all,
Can someone help me please.
I am looking at a wind deflector boot box on ebay, but the seller says it is for a W129 and I have an R129 (1999 Facelift) but I am intrigued to know the difference between the W & R types. I'm guessing the W is older, and if so will the cover fit in my boot?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanx.

R129=roadster 129(SL) The Mercedes-Benz R129 automobiles were produced from 1989 through 2003. They were sold under the SL-Class model names. The R129 replaced the R107 SL-Class in 1989.

W129=Mercedes-Benz 580 K (W129) (1939 - 1940) you sure thats the one you mean ?

could it be W219 ?

The Mercedes-Benz W219 automobiles began production in 2005. The platform is based on the W211 E-Class. It was sold as the CLS-Class "4-door coupe", although the bodystyle is properly termed a 4-door sedan, similar to the fastback sedan designs created by Robert Opron in the 1970's.

All this nomenclature can get confusing. They all do it, merc, Bm, even Subaru.

seems there was an SL w129 also from around the same time period (1991)

google shows me this

To these combinations going place also the automatic Sperrdifferenzial (ASD, SA code 211) of Mercedes. Here a torque-feeling lamella Sperrdifferenzial, which can become additionally over an electronic control completely actuated closed, concerns. Thus it offers efficiency advantages in relation to the brake interference of a drive slip regulation, i.e. is lost to less drive power. Over the abs number of revolutions sensors ASD registers a slip (difference in rpm) at the propelled rear axle and subjects the integrated lamella Sperrdifferenzial (basic check value about 30%) in the rear axle center piece hydraulically with pressure. ASD closes in this moment to 100% and makes from the Sperrdifferenzial an actuated Differenzialsperre. Yellow control light in form of a warning triangle in the speedometer indicates the activity of the system. When braking the full locking action is waived immediately. The system works at speeds up to approx. 30 km/h and found use in the 4, 5, & 6-Zylindermodellen of the series W126, W140, W129, W124, W201, as well as with the all-wheel-driven 4MATIC models of the W124.

A lot of people use 'W' in front of all the Mercedes chassis numbers when it relates to saloon. As per above above 'R' for roadster (or German equivalent) and 'S' for estate (or German equivalent).
So I think it will be a R129 just that the seller has used a W instead :)
