Chaps, can anyone help me?
I have a 53 plate E-class W211 (new shape); and one headlight seems to be slightly brighter than the other (main dip beams - H7 bulbs). I changed them, but still have the same problem. I checked the allignment, and they seem to be fine. The lenses seem clean, and the computer isn't showing any errors. What to do? Someone please Help!

Check the wattage of both bulbs is the same, and the same type and make of bulbs. If still a problem check the voltage at the bulb holder is the same.

Check that the "duller "headlight dipped beam is not set for European driving. In some models this gives a level beam. (less bright) In fact, check that both dipped beam lever adjusters are correctly set for UK driving; both dipped beam light patterns should kick up to the left. Park the car 10 feet from a wall/garage door and check the dipped beam patterns ;)

Check for corrosion on the lamp connections and any earth connection, corrosion / poor connection can create a resistance in the circuit causing lamps to dim (Fords used to be very prone to this kind of thing).

Could it be that one of the bulbs is fitted the wrong way up? It may not be possible to do this but just a thought.

Again, 'No' on both counts chaps, but thanks for the info.
I've booked her into the Merc dealer for monday (no-one else will touch her!) @ £98.00 p/hour, + cost of parts for repair! Ouch!!!:(

After all that, and £35 later, aparently nothing is wrong! They changed both bulbs and gave me 3 spares. They washed my car, adjusted all my lights (which were slightly out), and said that the computer & diagnostics show an MOT pass, and the beam patterns were spot on. The only other thing they could do (but didn't recomend it), was change the entire headlight (for the lense)! Not gonna happen. The lights are better now, but still, one is slightly brighter. I can definatly live with it instead of paying £300 + labour + vat!

PS: You'll LOVE this.
Before sending it to the Merc dealer, my service interval showed '4500 miles to E service'. When i got it back, it said: 'E service in 30 days'!!!:evil::evil:
Luckily, i reset it through the steering wheel buttons back to 9800 Ml. The cheek! When i asked them about it they said they didn't do anything!!!
Oh hum. Lesson learned.

Which one is slightly brighter?

It depends on what angle/perspective you look at them at :D

Dont give up!

The front left one, toward the curb. They should both be the same when viewed head on though shouldn't they? The angle doesn't matter. I think its the glass lense.
