Hello My Friends.
2002-W210 E class CDI Avantgard Auto Estate.(only had the car a few weeks) 46,700m.
1/ I am having problems with the digital displays for the outside temperature unit and the clock. The segments of the displays are not all working, so you don't see the full effect. Am I looking at a replacement dash unit, or is there a cheaper way out?
2/ The near side bonnet catch is faulty,(it won't hold, and you have to keep pressing the near side of the bonnet to get it to close). It will then stay closed, do you have any details of the repairs required.
3/ On replacing the bulb of the rear (near side tail-gate)lamp unit, I found there is no lamp holder fitted for the reversing light, is this standard, and could I get a unit with the lampholder fitted, so I can have two lamps for reversing.
4/ Can anyone give me details of the best workshop manual for this vehicle.

I hope you can help me with these proble

I would like to send you all a Happy Christmas and good New Year Wishes.

With Kind Regard

BLAKE.

Hello Blake, your problem is poor contacts on the ribbon cables inside the cluster, they can be packed out if you are electronically minded.

There are fims that fix them like "speedofixer"

Thank you Malcolm.
Although my working life was as an electrical engineer in the maintenance and installations of buildings I am not familiar with this. is it possible to explain?
Do you have any details of the firms that can fix this, in case I fail.
Kind Regards.

The display that is miss reading is connected by ribbon cables, these start to make a poor contact in their connectors and the cure is to cut out little plastic wedges and push them into the connecting ribbon cables to give a tight connection of the wires.

The whole unit has to be opened up to do this,,I will find some post later with some pictures.

Firms do fix them, one is speedofixer

2/ If the catch holds once closed it would suggest it requires adjustment.

3/ If none is fitted then , yes, standard. You might be able to source a unit for a LHD car and fit that. The asumption being LHD cars have the reversing light on the otherside?

4/ No workshop manual, only info is through WIS (workshop information system) available on-line, for a fee and it's not cheap!
