dim background lights on the dash

dash lighting is very dim, cant find a brightness button anywhere, is this normal? if not how do i solve it? any ideas?

No you have an adjuster, I am sure that you turn the knob in the instrument cluster, if I am wrong we have lots of 124 owners that will come to your aid

I had the same problem.
Having just bought the car, i tried zeroing the tripmeter which didn't seem to work (it doesn't) and inadvertantly lowered the brightness of the dash lights.

The rheostat is on that stalk for zeroing the tripmeter. You turn it clockwise to adjust brightness of dash lights. The same happened to me and I got my answer to my problem here on this forum.

fantastic, i can now see when im speeding! Unfortunately so can the wife and the kids!!

I was wondering how the brightness was altered and would never have thought of turning the trip.
