Dipping into the dark world of detailing.

So I've been admiring all these beautifully turned out cars and thinking ....I should have a go at that.
The usual wash and chamois dry followed by a polish was enough before, but the surface of my car felt rough to the touch and so I thought it time to invest in some of these detailing products.
As Halfords have a 3 for 2 sale on cleaning products at the moment, I got myself some Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo, a Farecla G3 Body Prep clay mitt,and a Meguiars Gold Class Premium Quik Detailer.

Washed the car using the two bucket method and a wash mitt, then using the mitt and Quik detailer went over the car thoroughly and could then feel the paintwork smooth as silk. Another soapy wash down followed by a hose off with clean water.
Dried off the paitwork with a microfibre towel and gave it a coat of AutoGlym Super Resin Polish and followed that with a coat of Farecla G3 Resin Superwax.
The wheels, interior and under bonnet will have to wait until tomorrow, but I'm happy with the outcome so far. Brilliant Silver paintwork is never going o look as dramatic and good as a dark colour, but mine looks good to me.

How do you find working with the Farecla G3 Resin Superwax?

TBH I found it as easy as applying any liquid polish. Went on easily and buffed up nicely with a soft cloth. Just have to see how long before the water droplets stop pooling to see how effective G3 wax is I guess.
The days of hard elbow grease with those thick Simonize and Turtle wax in tins are long past....thank goodness.

I see you dumped the leather. I got a bit of a b********g for using a leather on another thread, so will also now start to use micro fibre cloths and see what the end result is.
I'm more an engine/mechanics guy, and not the greatest bodywork fanatic, but I do show my Alfas, so I am learning how to shine here on this forum well.

The Farecla clay mitt is brilliant. Turned my rough paintwork into a really smooth finish.

@Richie, that micro fibre towel from Amazon looks a good buy. Just ordered one for myself.

Do you just rinse micro fibre towels out and hang em out to dry, once used, ready for re-use?

I put mine through a 40c machine wash, using a non-bio, non- conditioning liquid detergent.

i have dozens of micro fibre cloths and when used i keep them in a bag and when have a full load just put them in with no conditioner at 40deg c. always come out clean. must have been washed 30 times at least and still in good condition

Got to agree detailing world is the top of a very slippery slope of cleaning a car to the point you hardly dare to use it
