Happy new year to all on the forum. Now call me thick if you like, but i cant find the Oil level dipstick so i can check the oil. Is it all done through the multifunction steering wheel ?? Also the oil top up cap is so stiff i cant remove it is there a special way of removing it ? The owners manual makes no mention of a dipstick for the Diesel engine only the petrol engined ones:rolleyes:

Cant help today as the Ruskie site is down.

If you have a filler tube it will be on the left of the engine looking at the front. The checking is done with the in the cluster with the buttons.

If the oil cap is stuck,,pop into Halfords and get a strap type remover, they are the same as what old people use to get the tops off of jars

I don't think there is a dip-stick on the 203 diesels. Just the cluster reading..

No dipstick on the 203, have 3 weetabix for breakfast then try removing oil filler cap or put on a pair of rubber gloves to give you extra grip then give it another try, failing this cover with a thick piece of rag then clamp some mole grips to the cap to give you extra leverage:D

Thats what im begining to think, it shows you where it is in the owners manual for petrol engines but does not mention diesels, so i take it its done from the steering wheel !!.........bit dodgy i would have thought :(

Why bother? The car will tell you when to top-up. And it will fail-safe should the sensor go down.

Over 65,000miles all I have ever done is top-up the washer bottle and then only when the light came up :)

I'll need to remove the cover on mine one day & have a look.
I'm sure I've read the blanking off plug for the dipstick is at the rear of the engine, but your diagram shows the dipstick at the front which would make more sense.

We've sort of been here before. On another thread when looking for the auto box dipstick I initially confused it with the engine oil dipstick tube. (Two tubes and no dipstick in either!) 'A' is the blanked off ATF dipstick, and 'B' is the blanked off engine oil dipstick tube (on my 220cdi).

I have found "A" but would need to remove cover to see if "B" is there, will do it some time in the future.

That's the photo I remember, so fitting a dipstick would probably foul the bottom of the engine cover?

I think you're probably right.
I abandoned the idea when a salvaged dipstick from a scrap V220cdi didn't read correctly. (Even though the same engine, they'd been fitted with different length dipstick tubes. ****** infuriating)
