Recently purchased a 1991 E300 saloon RHD. (W124??) At some stage in its life it was purchased/used in Japan before being shipped into New Zealand for the second hand car market.
I have had the car 4 weeks. First w/end out the SRS light came on after approx 50Kms and stayed on, parked up over night, the following day it was off. Every long trip 50-100 Kms comes on intermittantly then stays on for the rest of the journey, when parked up over night the light is off when the car is used the following day. (Short journeys only).
When the light starts to come on, its just the occasional flash on/off, and as the journey progresses it stays on longer, until it is permanently on. At the initial stages of flashing on/off a snap acceleration will cause it to flash on, and a LH/RH turn in the early stages will force it go off.?? Stopping the car for a few hours, does not help the problem.
The following fault may be related to the above. Testing out the 4 speakers of the Radio I noticed that the RHR speaker was not working correctly. However I did notice whilst driving that when the SRS light flashed on there was a definite crackling through all the speakers + an improvement in the RHR speaker, maybe it was my imagination or was it just a coincidence.
Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated on the other side of the world 20,000Kms away.
