Well a further disappointment involving this 2003 C200 T Model after managing to find a company in Germany with refurbished SAM model of the correct part number and purchasing one firstly DHL's business partner here "Speedy" failed to deliver the package to the address, not the first time they have done this either, instead taking it to their drop off point in a shoe shop that is in our municipal town which is 22 km away and not informing us of this. Found it out through their tracking system when they didn't show up here of course it was too late then to go an collect it Friday otherwise we could have picked it up and dropped it into the garage who will be doing the swap over.

So Saturday morning I go to collect and it's been snowing over night and it's still snowing so a careful 44 km round trip, no one at the garage so cannot deal with that, got home and undid a totally undamaged box to discover that despite supposedly being refurbished it has a clearly damaged grey relay see photos. I can only guess that the re-furbishing is of the PCB inside the unit but seriously to not replace that clearly damaged relay!!!!

Have emailed the company and sent them the same photos we now wait for a response next week as of course it's the weekend and I seriously doubt anyone will read the email until Monday at the earliest meanwhile the C200 has not moved since last Sunday as it will not engage any gears.

That looks as if it is just a 2nd hand unit and the contacts don't look as if they are cleaned. Again, I will advise you to use electrical contact spray on your own one before you go to the trouble of changing your unit for a one that may have the same issues. At least you have spare relays now.
..and do get a proper battery. Mercedes are very sensitive to underpowered batteries.

As I mentioned before Star says that the unit on the car is faulty.

I will try to get some electrical contact cleaner although not sure where I would get some here but am in the regions capital tomorrow so will have a look for some. As for the battery well they are certainly not cheap here and especially with the snow and ice we have again currently which of causes battery isses for people the vendors are no inclined to have offers going one place I enquired at says that it needs a 100a battery at least even though official Mercedes sources claim 77AH 780a and 74AH 680a with dimensions of 278x175x190 for the C200 the size of a 100A battery means that the battery clamp probably cannot be used and prices are up around the £200 mark or more.

You're lucky they didn't chuck it over a hedge.

Seems dear for Bulgaria. What part are you in (curiosity) Perhaps you could get a Battery from Amazon.De.

Of course Star will say that the unit is faulty if it is not working correctly and is not conducting power as it should.
I am not saying that it is not faulty but.......I have always found that it is due to condensation/high voltage etc causing goo to build up on the contacts.

Some people have used easy start, baking powder, vinegar. I am not telling you to use that but..

Am in the Veliko Tarnovo region and shipping cost from Germany are crazy an delivery times are not short. The new tyres on the C200 came from Germany and took nearly 2 weeks this SAM module has a week from Germany. The battery place that wanted to sell me a 100AH one had a correct sized 77AH Bosche battery priced at 360 Lev but it came with NO warranty! Am not spending on a correct battery until the car is running and movable again she starts but moving the gear shift does nothing now until eventually the "Transmiss Visit Workshop" message appears. Hopefully George will know someone with a recovery so we can get it to the workshop and get this issue sorted then we can get a heavier duty battery.

The ECU for the auto box is under the passenger footwell, towards the bulkhead (on a right hand car its the passenger footwell don't know about left hand drive.) What usually happens is that the seal in the plug that goes into the gearbox seeps. The oil then, in capillary action, travels along the wires and into the connectors of the ECU. It can sometimes get into the ECU.
Also if you had this connection removed at either end and turned on the ignition the gears will not work without being reset.

I know VT extremely well and all the surrounding villages and of course Pavlikeni.
VT is my favourite town and the happy man is my favourite restaurant, not forgetting the Gurko. Great places to be.

Amazon.de have very reasonable shipping rates and are very fast

Icarsoft 11 is able to reset the auto box in these.

The problem with your idea is that this is not an automatic it's a semi automatic has no park as it' a robotically operated 6 speed manual box Sequential semi auto (Sequentronic automated manual transmission),TRANSMISSION 716.6 . When I had it serviced I asked for them to change the filter and check that plug but they could not as it has neither even went to the workshop and under the car on the ramp to be shown having never seen a transmission like this and being sold the car as an automatic at the time it did not register about there being no park function as well as it being my first Merc.

Sorry to say but I do not know VT very well at all no idea where "The Happy Man is or the "Gurko" we know Praktika, CBA, Kaulfland, The flower and veggie market, the Court building KAT Saint Petkas eye clinic and the Hospitals and of course Mother Bulgaria. been to Palvikeni a couple of times.

Can't see much refurbishment with that unit - a superficial clean externally maybe but that's all. As above contact cleaner and replacement of that relay and you may be ok. Always a gamble buying these so called refurb units.
