Basic question here.....

My S320 (2001) is going in for a service soon. I looked at the front and rear discs which have a lip of about 1.5mm and the pads have about 4.5mm left.
There is 72k on the clock, I do 6k per anum ,so is it about time the discs were replaced, and do the brake pads need replaced also?

Thanks

Hi,
If the car was mine I would be replacing both the discs and pads as the pad wear light Illuminates.
If you replace the discs you would be stupid not to replace the pads at the same time.

Hello

I bought the discs and pads, anti squeal paste and wear sensor for my wifes A210, the discs are vented, and slotted being the AMG model and this lot was £140 inc VAt which I thought was very good.

I'm having them fitted next week when car goes for a service (by an indy) I think from Mercedes they probably charge 1-2 hrs? @ £120 per hr say?

Its a straight forward job and have done it myself on cars ages ago but just havn't got round to it on this so thought its in anyway...

:)

I think pads and discs all round are likely to cost 400 pounds plus. Fitting will also be a couple of hours worth from a Stealership so there's another 200 odd pounds.

I'd advise going to an indy for fitting. Or better still, do them yourself if you can?
