Hi All, happy new year!

MB recently carried out a Service C on my approved used 55 reg CLS 350. While driving the next day the display message "Coolant Visit Workshop!" came up. Short time later the message disappeared. My manual says this indicates cooling fan for the radiator is faulty. I checked fan and it was working, checked coolant level just in case etc...all OK. The next day, starting from cold, I got another message "Battery Protection: Convenience functions temporarily unavailable" - this indicates battery has insufficient voltage. Again the message disappeared. I went into MB and asked them to look at the computer log and check car to see if there were issues. They checked car over and said everything was fine, nothing to worry about, essentially answer was "computer circuits just do that sometimes". Since then I've never had the Coolant message again, but the Battery Protection message has appeared twice more when starting from cold.

My question is, do you guys agree all's OK? I've had the car 15 months and never received any issue display messages, and it feels odd that I get 2 just after a service! Do any of you get the Battery Protection message as a matter of course sometimes? Any thoughts appreciated.

Thx.

If the car has been left for a few days before restarting, then the battery protection messege may appear, but if its coming on the next day after use then the battery may be in need of a good charge.

If your battery is the black gel type battery, then these can take a while to fully charge on the car just by using on short journeys.

Whiles the car has been in for service, chances are that the ignition and command/radio etc were left on for a hour or so whilst the service was done. this drained the battery enough to bring on the protection message which it may not have recovered from by general use.

On some cars the washer level gets linked with this,,fill it up and see if the warning goes away
