how often does one change the spark plug leads and distributor cap on a 190e 1.8 litre car?

there is no mention of the interval in the service booklet .

the distributor cap was changed by the previous owner at about 80,000miles.-the car has now done 111,000 miles.

Hi

There is no need to change plug leads unless you have a specific problem. Then dont fit the cheap rubbish ones otherwise you are just buying trouble for the future.

If it aint broke don't try an fix it.

The cap on the later cars are screwed in. If you snap the bolt of you have to drill it out. Dont' mess unless you really have to.

If u feel your engine has mis-fire, than replace it, as the lead go wrong, the energy transfer to the spark plug will be lower, and same story as the cap.
