Hi all

I have just got a S320 CDi (2000 Reg) that has Distronic, this is great sometimes but takesyou by surprise at other times, eg when approaching a car you are going to overtake on the MWay but waiting for a car in the RH lane to go past the S class starts to slow down if you get too close! you can adjust this a bit but does anyone know how to turn Distronic off and just use standard Cruise Control?

I know you can adjust the distance the car keeps from the one in front but in effect I need to reduce this to zero!

Thanks in advance

Ross

HI brave man/woman

Ive always found Im getting very nervous before distronic slowes the vehicle down it's possible its faulty.

If it's working ok and you dont' like it it can be coded out ( tell the car it hasn't got it and it believes you) and cruise will work as normal

Hi

Thanks for the reply,

You are ight about it slowing you down, I certainly wouldn't pay the £1800 given my choices again!

It works great in slow moving traffic tghough, what I really want to do is to be able to chose if I have Distronic on or off!!

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

Don't take it the wrong way, but does it say anything in the owners manual? I have found with Mercedes there is usually a wealth of information in these..

Hi

Ive been playing with distronic today and I can't reproduce the fault you are having I would think it a good idea to test another car with it on your dealer should be able to arrange this. I suspect that the sensor is miss aligned and it is quite a job to put it right. It requires some special tools and an MB approved optical wheel alignment kit

Thanks all for the replies, I have spoken at length to MB at Milton Keynes and they are adamant that you can't adjust the distance anymore than the roller switch allows.

I've spoken to the dealer again and they are going to have a look at the next service which is due in a few weeks.

Thanks
