54 plate makes it post August 2004 and as such SHOULD not be SA built. I presume its a facelifted model with the clear headlamp glass and new dash layout? If so, then that virtually guarantees a Europe build.
Does it have COMAND? If so then it becomes a very good price indeed, specially if its got full MBSH (nice to see and get proven).
Providing the engine etc has been PROPERLY serviced as dictated, then it should go on twice round the clock - or more.
Seeing as the W204 saloon has hit the road - soon to be followed by its other varients, then this is an obsolete model. Therefore try to negotiate on the price. Start at £10000 and hopefully you should end up a bit south of 11K.
One further point. Colour plays a part in the value. Silver and Black generally command top prices whereas all the other colours are lower. Some a fair bit.
AND just one further point. Make sure you get 2 keys. Replacements are pricey. If not, and there is only one key, then knock £200 off the price.
Sounds generally OK. Not a steal, but a fair price for (hopefully) a looked after example.

I think that verytalldave has covered most, the warranty is the other thing, MB dealers give a 12 month

I'd welcome some clarification on this point if anyone can help - mine was 1st registered in Nov 2004, is a facelift model & does have clear headlamp glass.
It also has a sticker on the B pillar which says it was made in SA - so what's the score?

Well I was certainly under the impression that all W203 built after about mid-2004 were NOT built in SA but Europe. As you say, clarification is required.

BTW.............COMAND is the built-in Satnav/phone/radio/CD control unit. I have one fitted in my W203 and looks like this............
Its bigger than the standard radio/CD unit............

The only item I would be really concerned about is the supercharger, they can be very expensive to replace so it might be advisable to bear this in mind.

Sounds a very attractive proposition otherwise.

WD does not have to mean it was built in SA mine is a 2001 and was built in Germany look at the plate up the side of drivers door this will tell you were it was put together.

All 203 saloon coming into the uk were South African built.
