I posted a thread this week looking for a new boot badge; Television was kind enough to point me to the main dealer and said "£15 maximum". Three days later I'd like to tell you how much the simple badge cost but am unable. I had an automated reply from my local dealer immeadiately, telling me they would be back forthwith. Nothing! I telephoned the dealer today and after waiting 10 minutes for Parts Dept to reply was told they would get back to me. Nothing! I emailed Milton Keynes customer services. Nothing!

Is this quite normal or am I being overlooked as the item is worth just £15? I am so glad it is just a mere badge I hate to think I could have been carless awaiting a reply with a serious problem.

Does anyone have any advice? Or should I just drop the whole badge idea and feel fulfilled have vented my spleen on here?

if i was you i'd drive down to your dealership, and go in and talk to a salesperson, ask them to come out to your car to see the part you want, then most likely they'll have it (or if not they'll order it)

that's what I'd do

cheers

Unfortunately my "local" dealer closed down a few months back. It has moved another 5 miles down the road to Stevenage which I visit only rarely. That is why I was asking online. The thought of not having to visit in person for such a small item was a real boon. Now I feel so irrelevant to them I don't want to give them even £15 worth of my money. But hey, that might be why I am single!!!!!!

Yeah, thats what i do with my local merc dealer, they always keen to come out and look at your car, even though mine is probs worth less than a set of wheels for one on forecourt!

Well, in addition, I can't really show the badge I want. My car was bought debadged which is the reason I want a "500 SEC" badge for the rear. I just think it is not worth their effort or that is the impression they give.

Will you buy me a 500 SEC as well and I'll get my own badge for it?
Thanks

PS Don't use Royal Mail to post it, they usually lose large items.

There is no need to make life difficult for yourself, just sit in your chair and go to :

www.mercedes-benz-parts.co.uk

If you do not know the part number and want to talk to the parts adviser just dial the number at the bottom of the front page screen.

Pay with your card and it will be posted to you in a day or so, along with a discount. Postage cost will be added, but will probably be less than petrol driving to a dealer.

Everyone on the forums that have used the service say it is impressive.

Dont worry Johnboy, MB head office and dealers are far too busy dealing with customer complaints, personaly I would only give them my money as a last resort, but dont let my bad experiences put you off. Love the cars but dont love the dealers!

Thanks all! I now have the reply to my original question................Mercedes DO reply!!!! I've just had a reply from Mercedes Stevenage and am now recieving the badge F.O.C. It seems my 2 emails (and my intrasigent attitude) to MB customer services worked
Thanks David; Inchcape were £22 inc p&p and would have got an order prior to my result. Special thanks to Malcolm. Your offer was most kind. JB

That's good news - however the point of the matter is that you shouldn't have had to complain in the first case

Well I waited a week and still heard nothing. Called them...... no one answered the phone AGAIN. I visited them at the new showroom; very impressive. Any way the upshot of it all is that a badge was delivered personally to my door F.O.C. this morning! I need some quarter light door seals now. Should I give then another try?????

It ended up NOT being a free badge if you had to expend petrol costs and time costs and hassle to get it .

Just use Inchcape next time and it will be delivered to you.
