Dodgy Ebay dealer - WARNING

do not deal with this guy, selling under the name of JackSpratt advertising wheel bolts and locking wheel bolts.

We ordered a set of locking wheel bolts from him which he supplied, however there was no way on this earth they would fit, wrong length, wrong radius, wrong diameter.

We politely asked for a refund and he refused saying that according to his catalogue he supplied what we asked for.

Please avoid him like the plague

Sometimes Ebay can be very good, but, after nearly 2-years of using it, I have now stopped because the few times when people send you things that are far from what they advertised, or even don't send you anything at all, don't make up for the rest. I've had quite a few bad experiences and lost quite a bit of money. Ebay doesn't seem to care as they always support the seller, bad or good and so you have very little recourse on bad deals. Therefore, no more Ebay for me.

Forgive me (and I am not JackSpratt) but I have just looked him up on ebay and he has zero feedback - not even a neg from you.

While I am sure Forum members here are grateful for the heads up to this dodgy dealer, perhaps you should consider warning the ebay community too by leaving the appropriate feedback.

as i've said elsewhere, the major problem of leaving bad feedback on ebay will result in the person leaving negative feedback for you despite the fact you have paid for goods promptly, it's a sort of tit for tat thing and ebay will do nothing to remove feedback left in this situation. Sooner than leave negative feedback at present we have forwarded all the emails to ebay along with a report of our dissatisfaction

I'll also say in Jackspratts "defence" that after some 15 emails were sent back and forth he has grudgingly agreed a refund with me still being held liable for postage costs for goods that he supplied incorrectly.

Rest assured, I will leave feedback and it won't be good :)

Using Ebay

Hi!

I use Ebay for a fair bit of my income. I have over 300 pieces of feedback. I consider myself to be fair, honest and trustworthy. Unfortunately there are those who are not.

When buying anything on Ebay always check the feedback for negative and neutral comments. Read the comments as well because quite often the issues were resolved if you investigate further. Check what percentage of feedback is for buying and selling. If someone mainly sells and its good feedback well you can be a bit more assured. Buying on Ebay its easy to get positive comments as you either pay or you don't! Zero feedback or a low figure for comments, well, you take a risk. Similarly if someone has lots of negative overall then you are jumping in with the sharks! Remember an Ebayer with 100 pieces of feedback and 10 Negatives probably let down 10% of people. Someone with 1000 pieces and 10 negatives has only let down 1%. Take all this into account.

If you do decide to buy something, especially technical items, ASK QUESTIONS! A good seller won't mind answering queries if he is serious about selling. Learn your subject. If something seems too good to be true then it probably is. If it is described correctly and turns out to be a duffer then you have been conned. There are also a lot of incredibly stupid, ignorant and unreasonable people using Ebay. Buyers and sellers! Remember though that life is like that too!

There are millions of items on Ebay worldwide everyday. It is a huge success. What its not is a shop covered by trading standards. CAVEAT EMPTOR! Even I got one negative feedback. Of course it wasn't my fault!!!!

Hope this helps.
