I use it all the time for my diesel with Millers injector cleaner every 10K miles. Don't notice any mpg difference but after the cleaner I get more power and a smoother engine.

Did have some success in coaxing few more MPG average out of a crusty Saab with some similar stuff. Fixing a weep from the fuel tank did wonders too:D

I purchased a 10year old w210 td 5 months ago, the car had 63K and a FMBSH and one owner.
She (I like to think of it as a she) did around 25mpg, a few cans of cleaner and 5000 miles and I am regularly getting 40+ providing I keep it below 80mph.

She has done 80k now and seems to be getting better the more she is used.
In my current employment I think she will hit 100k by the end of the year.
She is getting serviced every 10k at a local non-franchised dealer and I change the oil every 5K.

I thought about a new SAAB 95 diesel but loosing £5k as you drive out of the showroom is more than I could stand, so I spent the £5k on my MB.
I have not regretted it yet.

Fuel injector cleaner pays dividends

I agree with all that has been stated about the benefits of using fuel injector cleaner. I use Redex regularly but have not noticed any great improvement in mileage. However, much depends upon the cleanliness of the fuel system prior to adding the cleaner which also removes carbon deposits from the valves and cylinder head. A cleaner engine is a more efficient engine and is likely to give better performance, improved fuel economy and require less mechanical maintenance, hence fewer problems. Fuel injector cleaner does pay dividends by maintaining the overall fitness and longevity of the fuel system and engine and in the long term this saves money.

I've tried them all and by far the most effective one is Forte. You really notice the difference.

Hi there as regards emmisions my e280 was very near to failing emmisions (feb 08 mot) on unburnt hydrocarbons 198ppm the max is 200ppm so very close to failing.
last week i put some wynns engine stop leak (£4.99 from halfords) in which is proported to revitalise valve seals and oil seals etc ,i never really thought it would make any difference but tried it anyway.
I drove about 120 miles and booked in for an emissions test at the same mot station and my hydrocarbons are now 14 ppm.thats a massive reduction the only thing i have done since my last mot is drive 1500 miles it still has the same oil in the engine all things being equal the emmisions should be slightly worse due to the slightly higher mileage 149000 at present.
has anyone else tried this snake oil remedy and had such success
Paul
Btw the dodgy dealer who provided the car said i should use oil recommended for older engines so maybe he was hinting the fact is was a bit of an oil burner.

Question:

Why not use 'super' fuel for a few fill-ups? Does this not contain the extra additives that folks pay through the nose for?

I fill both mine up with 'super' fuel most of the time.

It would be good if we had a Fuel Expert on the Forum, who would advise us of the Supermarket vs Standard vs Super fuels.

I admit, that since reading about Supermarket fuels on this Forum, I have avoided them like the plague..!!!!!
